Updated: 06 Sep 2025

SSC CGL 2025 Tier-4, Post Preference & Final Allotment: Complete Guide

After SSC CGL 2025 Tier-1, Tier-2, and Tier-3, the final stage for candidates is Tier-4 & Final Allotment. This stage includes Computer Proficiency Test (CPT), DEST/Typing (for some posts), and the final post preference allocation.

Note: Tier-4 applies only for specific posts like Assistant Section Officer (CSS/MEA) or posts requiring computer skills.

What is Tier-4 (CPT & Skill Tests)?

  • Computer Proficiency Test (CPT): Mandatory for ASO posts in CSS, MEA, etc.—tests Word, Excel, PowerPoint skills.
  • DEST: Occasionally included again for verification during Tier-4 for some posts.
  • Typing Test: English 35 wpm or Hindi 30 wpm—applicable for clerical-type posts.

Post Preference in SSC CGL 2025

During application, candidates select post preferences. At final stage, SSC uses:

  1. Your merit based on Tier-2 marks only.
  2. Your eligibility (DEST, CPT, Typing, etc.).
  3. Your category (UR/OBC/SC/ST/EWS/PwD).
  4. Post availability as per cut-offs.
Example: If you opted for ASO in MEA but fail CPT, you’ll be moved to your next eligible preference.

Final Allotment Process

  • Merit List: Prepared using Tier-2 scores only.
  • Skill Test/DV: Must be cleared to stay in contention.
  • Post Allocation: Based on preference, merit rank & seat availability.
  • Cadre Allotment: Final department allocation after post confirmation.

Important Points to Remember

  • Tier-4 is qualifying in nature but mandatory if required for your post.
  • Post preference cannot be changed later—choose wisely.
  • High-rank posts like CSS, MEA require strong merit and skill qualification.

FAQs (Tier-4 & Final Allotment)

Q. Is CPT needed for all posts?
A. No. Only for specific posts like ASO in CSS/MEA/AFHQ.

Q. Final merit decided by which marks?
A. Only Tier-2 marks. Tier-3/Tier-4 are just qualifying.

Q. Can I change post preference later?
A. No. Preferences once submitted remain final.

Final Words

SSC CGL 2025 Tier-4 is all about qualifying and eligibility—not scoring. Clear CPT/DEST/Typing, verify documents, and if your merit matches your preferences, you’ll land a great post. Final allotment = Tier-2 score – post preferences – eligibility.

At the toss, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav and Pakistan’s captain did not shake hands. After the match, when Pakistan’s players came forward for the traditional handshake, the Indian players walked straight to the dressing room.
